Sister Blister

Inspired by the MARIEN APOTHEKE WIEN, WALKING CHAIR DESIGN has been creating illuminated objects and light installations from recycled tablet packaging since 2007.

Background on the material: The blister packs are manufactured from aluminium and plastic by the pharmaceutical industry. This combination of materials, which poses a problem for disposal, is a perfect material for lighting. The aluminium reflects the light, whilst the partially transparent, coloured plastic refracts it so perfectly that the new lights emit a pleasant, warm glow even when using a cool-toned bulb. The light objects create a spectacular play of shadows and, just like moths to a flame, attract a large audience.
